3 WAYS TO WEAR: THE RED EYELET CROP TOP
Well, hello there! Today I’m back with another “Wear it 3 ways” post for you guys. The last one was 3 ways to style a denim jacket, and today I wanted to do something a little more… Summery. So obviously it had to be a crop top, ya know? Just staying true to my brand, I guess.
I got this crop top before Palm Springs and quickly became OBSESSED with it. First of all, it’s eyelet, which has to be in my top3 favourite fabrics ever. It’s also suuuper cropped, which is perfect for showcasing the Summer abs I still have to get - But probably won’t because I’m not working out and abs don’t just show up because you wish they would. Also, it’s a super flattering corset inspired cut, with cups for the ladies, so you can wear it without a bra and it’s still super flattering. And you guys, I’m usually not a fan of not wearing a bra, because it more often then not makes me look like my boobs forgot to RSVP, lmao. Lastly, this top has the kind of magical straps that can be worn up or off the shoulder and looks amazing both ways, so you have a way to switch it up right there. I love myself a versatile piece, so this is really a big plus for me. It kind of reminds me of those dresses that are actually just a big square of fabric that you can apparently wear 84963 different ways… Except this top actually looks decent, lol.
I wore it in Palm Springs (full Palm Springs outfit diary here) but then I knew I wanted to shoot it again, because I’m kind of obsessed with it. So I came up with 2 new ways to style it. I’ll re-include the look I wore in Palm Springs in case you didn’t see it, but I won’t include all the pictures, since I already posted them in the Palm Springs outfit diary which I just linked above and I don’t want it to be redundant for those of you who already saw it.
LOOK #1: PALM SPRINGS COWGIRL QUEEN
As you can see, I chose to wear it as an off the shoulder top in Palm Springs, because it was just too damn hot to wear anything, if we’re being honest.
I also chose to keep everything else white, so the top would really be the main focus of the outfit and act as a pop of colour.
Since the top is low-cut, it really leaves a lot of space on the neckline, so I like to always wear it with a few dainty necklace or something chunkier that really dresses up that empty space.
Also, if I want to go for an extra sexy look, I always make sure to highlight my collar bones when I’m wearing that top.
Look #2: DESERT BAE (IN THE CITY)
I don’t know why, but this outfit also gives me a desert vibe, even though I wore it in the city. In fact, I wore it to go grab some Pho (my faaaave) at a new spot we discovered in Playa Del Rey, called Good Morning Vietnam.
It’s definitely a “hole in the wall” type of place, but the soup was extraordinary - I highly recommend it if you’re in the area.
But I digress. Back to this look… This time, I went for all black accessories and shorts, without even realizing it. I wore it with the straps on the shoulders (and I think that’s how it’s meant to be worn).
I also went ahead and matched my eyeshadow to my top, because:
1) I can
2) It’s fun, and
3) I thought it looked cool.
OUTFIT #3: Plaid Business
For my third outfit, I wanted to make it something that I would wear to run errands or to go out to lunch… Something casual, but a little more dressed up, and I thought it would be cool to include an outfit that wasn’t so… Naked? Lol. I know not everyone likes to show their midriff, but I’m one of those people who think it’s still possible to wear a crop top without showing your entire stomach, as long as you wear high-waisted bottoms (what else?!) and a blazer or a jacket over it.
I chose my plaid blazer because it has a boxy cut that offsets the feminine style of the crop top with a more masculine vibe, and added a black belt, my trusted white cowboy boots and my black and white pineapple bag to tie in the black and white of the plaid blazer to the rest of the outfit.
I also wanted to switch it up from my usual super dainty layered necklaces, so I went with my new pearl necklaces instead, as well as some pearl barrettes in my hair for a small feminine touch.
I love this outfit because it’s practical, it can take you from day to night, and it’s a great balance between feminine and masculine styles.
So that’s it for now, guys! I hope you enjoyed this post and it gave you some kind of inspiration to plan some outfits of your own. Don’t forget to let me know which outfit out of the 3 is your favourite in the comment section below, and for more style inspo and some miscellaneous shots I don’t post on here, don’t forget to follow on Instagram - And come say hi, I LOVE connecting with you guys in real time!
I will leave you on some more pictures from these 2 new shoots, because making decisions is apparently too hard for me and I couldn’t decide which pictures to share, lol, hope you enjoy!
Love you guys,
