BRIGHT SUMMER NEON YELLOW NAIL ART WITH HOLOGRAPHIC CRYSTALS
If you’ve been a long-time reader, you’ve probably seen at least one of my crystal nail arts. If you haven’t check out my Summer negative space crystal nail art, or my light pink and holographic crystal nail art. It’s no secret that I love crystals, glitter, sequins and anything sparkly, so I decided to listen to my heart and create another crystal nail art, this time inspired by the massive neon trend going on for the Summer.
This is definitely my brightest, most out-there nail art yet, and I hope you guys like it! I wanted to go for something punchy that you can’t ignore, some nails that punch you in the eyes, if you will. Ha!
Here’s what I used to create this super easy nail art (that doesn’t look that easy, but I swear it is!) and keep scrolling for more pictures and a sneak-peak of the Huda Beauty Neon Orange palette… That you’ve probably seen a hundred times at this point, but I though it was the perfect prop to shoot this nail art. And yes, I will be reviewing that palette as well as the Green one soon enough and give you guys some swatches and some looks, so definitely stay tuned for that. But I digress… Here’s what I used to create this nail art:
WHAT I USED:
Way Of Will Cuticle Oil
Essie Millionails Primer (discontinued, THIS is the one I recommend)
Urban Outfitters nail polish in Cabana Fever
WHAT I DID:
1. I prepped my nails and made sure they were all the same length and shape (I try to do that as much as possible, obviously). I always use a basic nail file like this one because I find that it’s what works best for me. Then I applied one small drop of cuticle oil to each nail and rubbed it in, massaging my nails, fingers and hands for a few minutes.
I feel like the massage makes me relax and just feels amazing, and puts me in a good mood, even though that sounds weird… It’s just a ritual that I’ve taken the habit of doing since I started using cuticle oil, and I’m obsessed!
I only started using cuticle oil recently, but honestly I find that it makes a huge difference in the way my manicures look. It makes the whole thing look way more polished and put together. My hands look like I’m a lady who takes care of herself, as opposed to a rugged farmer with dry hands, lmao.
2. After washing off the oil from my hands, I dried them carefully and applied a thick coat of nail polish primer. The one I used seems to be sold out, but I found an equivalent I linked above, that I will have to buy myself once my current one is finished. I let that primer dry for about 10 minutes before moving on to step 3.
3. I applied my neon yellow nail polish over the whole nails, and I had to do 3 coats because that nail polish is quite sheer. I’ve been using Urban Outfitters nail polish a lot, and this is by far the hardest one to work with. I put up with it because the colour payoff is just incredible and it’s a super affordable nail polish, but I’m not gonna lie, I like their sparkly and duo-chrome nail polishes much better.
4. Once the neon nail polish was completely dry, I applied a thick coat of top coat (one nail at a time) and quickly stuck the crystals in it, using it as a glue to hold the crystals in place. I always use face crystals from festivals that I remove from the sticky base because I hate throwing those away and I feel like it’s such a waste, but if you don’t do festivals (or if you don’t want to go through a complicated process) you can use the ones I linked above, that are specifically made for nails and are super affordable. I let that dry completely for a good 15-20 minutes, and then finished it off with a thin coat of top coat, just to seal off the edges and make sure the nails last as long as possible.
I always use the same top coat (linked above) because it dries quickly, lasts forever and makes my nail look super shiny. I haven’t used another top coat in years and simply refuse to, lol.
Usually when I do a crystal manicure, I can get away with keeping it looking good for about a week. And every time I post one of these on Instagram, people always tell me they look super complicated, but I swear it’s the easiest thing ever, because all you have to do is dump crystals on your nails in a semi-random (or totally random) pattern. I swear, it’s super simple.
It does take quite a bit of time between the coats, but I always do my nails while I’m working at my computer because having wet nails doesn’t keep me from typing or editing pictures.
I hope you guys like this nail art, and if you end up recreating it (or any other neon nail art, for that matter) please post a pic on Instagram and tag me @thehungarianbrunette, so I can see it and repost it on my stories!
Love you guys,
