CLARINS RADIANCE-PLUS GOLDEN GLOW BOOSTER REVIEW
Being in LA had me totally reevaluate my beauty routine. On a day-to-day basis, I wear a lot less makeup. I also started caring less about actual makeup and more about skincare. I'm all about having an overall healthy, fit, fresh-off-the-beach look... Including messy hair and a sun-kissed tan.
About that last part, I have a BIG confession to make... And it's real embarrassing: I just LOVE the sun. Not like sunny weather. Like lying under the sun for hours, like a big fat lizard on a rock - so sue me. But in 2018, you tell that to anyone and people look at you like you're boning your cousin.
Here's the thing: I will never be the girl who wears a big hat and giant sunglasses to sit on the beach under a giant umbrella, under a tree... I just love sunbathing.
That being said, I'm not totally delusional. I don't want to look like a banged-up leather couch when I'm 40, so I try to compromise. I wear SPF on my face on a daily basis. And when I'm at the beach or in the desert, I wear sunscreen on my whole body.
But I LOVE having a sun-kissed glow. I feel like I like my face much more when I have a tan going... Which brings me to this week's Beauty Wednesday star product: Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster.
Until I started using this product, I wasn't really familiar with Clarins. I had heard of the brand, like everyone not living in a remote cavern, but I had never used any of their products. But the last time I was in Montreal, I went looking for something to maintain my tan and someone at the drugstore recommended this. I decided to give it a go, and I've never looked back since then.
And before I tell you why this product is THE shit, let me preface this by saying that I'm usually not a fan of self-tanning products. I'm always terrified of streaks and weird orange shades.
But the Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster delivers a perfect tan, without either of these blunders. Which brings me to my first point:
It Gives You A Perfect, Even, Gradual Tan
This is not gonna take you from Snow White to a pre-presidency Donald Trump in one application. It's actually a gradual tanner, which really minimizes the risks when it comes to mishaps. But contrary to some other gradual self-tanners, you can actually see results after one use. Then, the more you keep applying it, the darker you get. In 2-3 days, you can have a pretty good tan that will fool anyone into thinking that it's real.
It's the perfect alternative to looking like Powder, without the risk of being mistaken for an Oompa Loompa. It legit doesn't streak, look fake or orange, or stain eyebrows and hairline. Since it's gradual, unless you use an insane amount, there's really no danger of accidentally over-doing it.
It Doesn't Add Yet Another Product To Your Skincare Routine
The most interesting thing about it is that you don't need to add another annoying step to your skincare routine and apply some heavy cream on your face. You just add 2-3 drops of this oil-like elixir to your moisturizer, mix and apply like you usually do.
It's super simple, quick and efficient. For the busy bee like me, this is so perfect. If you have a sensitive skin, you also don't have to worry about it making you break out. If you wear sunscreen during the day, you could also mix it in there, for a self-tanning sunscreen. Talk about two birds with one stone!
Personally, I like to use it every morning after washing my face, or every night after a shower. Once a day is enough, and once your tan is how you like it, you can apply the Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster every other day, to maintain it.
Since it makes the moisturizer you use a little more runny, I like to mix it with this thick one.
Because I'm at the beach quite regularly and try to be outside as much as I can, I have a pretty decent tan on my body. But since I was my face twice a day and exfoliate regularly, I feel like it's much harder to maintain a decent tan on my face. And there's NO WAY I will go out looking like I've been tanning with a paper bag on my head. So, that's kinda where the Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster comes in. And let me tell you, it's a life-saver, I really can't recommend it enough.
They also make the same product for the body, and I haven't tried it yet, but I'm really tempted to buy it. If you tried it or use it, let me know what you think!
