If you saw last week’s Beauty Wednesday post (the Laneige Lip Glowy Balm review), you might be under the impression that I have an obsession for lip products… And you would be 100% right. And although I always was a lip balm fiend, I’ve always been pretty faithful to my beloved Dior Lip Maximizer, which also happens to be one of the first beauty products I’ve reviewed on The Hungarian Brunette. On a side note, you can check out that post right here, and see how far I’ve (hopefully) come with my product photography - These plastic roses are just not cute, lol.

But this year, for Spring, I decided to give my Dior gloss a break and explore the realm of lip glosses a little more. I’ve been on a few shopping excursions lately, and probably increased my lip gloss collection by 20000% (oops!) - and I do have a post coming up on my 5 favourite glosses of the year, so definitely stay tuned for that if you’re into lip gloss too. And spoiler alert, this Nars Orgasm oil-infused lip tint made the cut.

It’s an amazing gloss, and I have a lot of positive things to say about it, but I have to start by saying this: When I received it, I was really surprised by how it looked nothing like what I had seen online. At first, I thought they had sent me the wrong product, until I went in store and realized that the pictures on Sephora’s website are just incredibly misleading.

The Hungarian Brunette Nars Orgasm oil-infused lip tint lip gloss

If you take a look at the picture right here on the left, you can see that the gloss is a bright, vibrant, almost fuchsia pink with tiiiiiny gold sparkles, right? That’s because I was super careful with the way I edited these shots, because I wanted to make sure that they stayed true to the actual colour of the product.

Now if you look at the product shot (and the swatch) on Sephora’s website, you might be scratching your head, wondering WTF happened. And the answer is, I don’t know.

On their website, the colour looks like a super pale, dusty rose colour that has nothing to do with this vibrant pink… They even describe the colour as “peachy pink with golden shimmer”.

Now I’m not sure if this is another episode of the blue and black/gold dress debacle from a few years ago, but I’m not seeing peachy pink in any of this gloss. If anything, the colour on the applicator looks even a little purple to me, but not peachy AT ALL.

And the thing is, normally, I would have never in a million years ordered a lip gloss this dark or bright coloured. I like my balms, lipsticks and glosses to be light, sheer and a subtle shade of light pink if it has any colour at all. So this is definitely a little bit out of my comfort zone when looking at it in the tube.

But I figured that while I had my hands on it, I might as well try it, and I’m SO glad I did. First of all, the colour really isn’t as intense when it’s on the lips. I mean sure, it’s still pinker and brighter than what I’m used to, but it just looks like a super juicy, healthy wash of colour was added to my lips… Almost like my lips spent a few hours skiing in the mountains - without the rest of my face.

In the Summer, when I have a bit of a tan, I know this is the gloss I’m gonna be reaching for 24/7 because it’s just going to enhance my tan with its beautiful bright shade.

I also really love the way the golden sparkles look, because that’s probably the only thing that was accurate about the description on Sephora’s website: It’s a shimmer more than a sparkle. As a result, it doesn’t have a glittery look (which there’s nothing wrong with, btw) but more like a super shimmery, juicy look…

And speaking of juicy, the one thing that I can’t skip over if I’m talking about a gloss (and a deal-breaker for me) is the texture. If a gloss is sticky, I don’t care if it makes my lips look like Angelina Jolie’s, pays my taxes and does my laundry, it’s not going on my mouth. It’t my worst pet peeve, and I like glosses that feel super light, almost like lip balm. If you’re like me, this gloss is the PERFECT option for you. When they say “oil-infused”, they’re not kidding. It feels so light and moisturizing on the lips, in a slippery way… But it’s not oily either, if that makes sense. It’s just the best, most comfortable texture to wear, and it’s perfect for the hot, already sticky Summer months.

Safe to say, I love this gloss and it’s really making me want to dabble more in the Nars universe, because now I feel the need to try out more of their products. Have you guys tried this gloss, or any product from the limited edition Orgasm collection? I linked some other pieces from the collection too right below, because I’m OBSESSED with their aesthetic and want them all sitting in my bathroom.

Love you guys,

Jenny xx
