DIOR LIP MAXIMIZER REVIEW

It's kind of surprising to my own self that I'm writing a lip gloss review, because I almost never wear any. Actually, the only lipgloss I own is not even technically a lip gloss. It's this Dior lip maximizer and I wouldn't trade it for anything else.

Some of you know that I'm a lip balm addict. I wear it all the time and I even make my own. If you ever see me without a fresh coat on, it's probably because I forgot it at home. Dried, chapped lips are my worst nightmare and I feel best when my lips are hydrated and slightly slippery.

And that's partly why I'm EXTREMELY picky when it comes to lip gloss. Because most of them feel like you just glued your lips shut. They're sticky and gross and feel heavy. In my book, there are very few things more disgusting than gooey lipgloss forming filaments when someone speaks to you.

But worry not, this Dior lip maximizer's got you and your lips covered. Although it's technically marketed as a lip maximizer, I use it exclusively for the lip gloss job. In my opinion, lip maximizers are kind of a myth. If you want bigger lips, I feel like injections are the only thing that really gets the job done. But as far as a lip gloss, this one more than gets the job done! Here are a few reasons why I'm in love with it:

The Texture Is Perfect

Contrarily to the heavy, sticky glosses I just mentioned above, this one has the perfect consistency and texture. It's lightweight and NOT sticky at all, but it's still "there" enough to last for a while. Definitely no need to reapply every 5 minutes.

One thing I love to do with this gloss is layer it on top of a fresh coat of lip balm. Not only does it make it even more slippery and lightweight, but I feel like it also creates a barrier (like a sheet mask would) and makes the lip balm SO MUCH MORE moisturizing. This is litteraly my favourite lip tip, ever. And it makes my lips SO soft!

The Shine Level Is Spot On

Ok, so, this looks exactly like a gloss, but it's not too shiny either. Like people won't be blinded by the extreme reflection of light occurring on your lips, or worse, look at you slightly crosseyed, like stunned deers in headlights.

Basically, this "gloss" gives you exactly that: A glossy look that's just perfect. If you look closely, you'll see tiny tiny TINY glittery flecks inside, but nothing you could see on the lips, so it really doesn't look tacky.

Also, all the colours available are pretty, understated nudes or light pinks, so it's always a subtle, chic look.

The Smell + Taste Are On Point

If you read The Hungarian Brunette on the reg, you know for sure that this is a non-negotiable for me. Experience AND results are equally important in my book. That's also why my Dior lip maximizer is the only gloss I use, because it's the only one I found that scores perfectly on both fronts.

The smell is VERY subtle and it tastes a little like a chocolatey mint (if that makes sense) but not in an overwhelming way, it's very subtle too! Also, since it's technically a lip plumper, it makes the lips slightly cold and tingly, which I love! It's very refreshing.

On top of everything, I have to add that, as usual with Dior products, the packaging is just incredibly beautiful and chic. This is the kind of gloss that you'll be proud to take out and reapply in public.

It might be a little more pricey than some other popular brands out there, but it's definitely worth it. Also worth noting, a little goes a long way. I've had mine in my purse 24/7 for almost a year and I'm still good to go for a while. Granted, I don't use it 20 times a day, everyday, but I do put it on every time we go out for dinner or to a bar. And I always get looks and compliments when I wear it!

That's it for now, guys. I hope you enjoyed this review and if you did, check out my review of another Dior product, the Flash Luminizer.
