GLAMGLOW GLOWSETTER SETTING SPRAY REVIEW

One of my biggest pet peeves with wearing makeup is when I look like something that crawled out of a drain by 2pm, even though I thought I looked so fabulous in the morning.

You know what I’m talking about… You put on your makeup at 7am, only to look at yourself in the bathroom at lunch and think “What the HECK happened and who the f*ck ARE you??”. Been there, done that, trust me. Not anymore, though. A few months ago, I got the best beauty tip of the year backstage at a hair runway show.

I was modelling a really cool wig and I was super happy with how it looked. But when I realized how big and heavy it actually was, my first thought was “Oh shit, now my face is gonna be running down my dress in front of all these people”. I had a ton of makeup on, and also, I should mention it was in Fairfax, on a rooftop, in 3000°F weather and I was wearing a black maxi dress with long sleeves over a bodysuit. Add to that the heaviest wig ever, that made me feel like I got my head stuck in a pizza oven.

But then, the magic happened! Came to the rescue Glamglow’s Glowsetter. You guessed it, after 2 hours sweating out my eyeballs in the blistering sun, my face was still looking cool as a cucumber. I was surprised because I tried a few setting sprays over the years, but none of them were really doing it for me, so I just assumed they were an urban legend.

You wouldn’t believe the number of times I changed my primer because I thought it sucked… I now realize I was living a lie. Like, yeah, primer is great and super important, especially if you have an oilier skin. But give it a great partner like a setting spray that actually works, and you’ve got a magic team in your hands.

Like any other setting spray, you just hold it a few inches away from your face and you mist it all over your makeup. But this is where the similarities end, because it’s unlike anything I’ve ever tried before in the setting spray department. Here are a few things that really made it stand out:

It smells AMAZING

If you’ve been reading my Beauty Wednesday reviews on Instagram for a while, you know that the experience that goes with beauty is just as important to me as the look and effects… If a face cream smells like shit, it’s not going on my face unless it makes me look like I’m actually getting younger - which, let’s face it, ain’t gonna happen. I love Glamglow products in general because they smell AMAZING and this one is no exception. After glancing at the ingredients, I’m guessing it’s camellia, but don’t quote me on that one. Just know it smells like a dream, in a non-overpowering, subtle kind of way.

It actually works - & it lasts A WHILE

Ok, so this is arguably the most important point and I get it. Even though things like smell and texture really make it or break it, I’m not spending money on a beauty product unless I see RESULTS. And Glowsetter really delivers on that too. If I apply it in the morning, I would usually feel like my foundation needs a touch up around 1pm. With this, I can easily go the whole day, and if I’m going out at night, I’ll just mist my face again before. Easy peasy. Note that I HATE reapplying powder or foundation during the day, even if it’s just a little touch up. It feels gross to me and I hate the feeling of having shit piled-up on my face, so Glowsetter really takes care of that nicely.

It’s actually easy to carry-around (+ it’s PRETTY)

For the times when you have to go directly from work to happy-hour and then some, you still wanna look like you’re fresh faced and you just did your makeup, even though you didn’t. That means you’ll have to carry around a few things to touch-up your face and this one HAS to be on the short list. If I’m going around with makeup in my bag, it’s gonna be a really compact bronzer + highlighter, an eyeliner and my Glowsetter. Even though I would recommend getting the full-size for at-home use (because it’s half price for the same volume) I love the mini-size because it allows me to bring it with me on shoots and as a backup if I’m going out after a long day. It’s super small and compact, and when you take it out, it’s pretty and pink.

It’s a FINE mist - No drowning you face here

The one thing that always bothers me with facial sprays of any kind, is when the drops are so big you feel like you’ve been standing face-up in the rain for the past hour. Gross. This one has a fine, fine mist that really doesn’t over do it. It’s great. Since I have oily-combination skin, I try to stay as far as possible from anything that makes my face look like a puddle and I promise it’s not the case. It just gives you a dewy glow and then absorbs into your skin quite quickly, leaving you with whatever effect your makeup has. So if you went with a glowy, dewy look, that’s what you’ll have. If you’re going for a super-matte look, it won’t mess it up either. It’s super versatile and it fits any kind of vibe you’re going for.

Overall, I really love my Glowsetter setting spray, to the point where I have nothing bad to say about it. It’s honestly not that pricey when you compare it to similar brands, and it actually does wonders, which makes it an essential for me.

I’d love to hear what you thought of this GlamGlow setting spray if you tried it, and just if you use setting spray in general!
