HUDA BEAUTY NEON OBSESSIONS PALETTES (ORANGE & GREEN) REVIEW & SWATCHES + Which One Should You Get???
YOU GUYS, I AM OB-SESSED with the Huda Beauty Neon Obsessions palettes!!! Seriously, it’s been a while since I have been so excited for a makeup launch. When I saw them on Pinterest a few days before they came out, I legit thought it was a hoax at first, because I feel like neons are a bit unexpected for Huda Beauty… Is it just me? But anyways, I went to Huda’s Instagram to double-check, saw they were coming out FOR REAL, and started trying to figure out which one I wanted. I knew I wasn’t going to buy all three, because a) ya girl is on a budget, and b) neon is a hot trend, but I only have one face and I don’t think I need 3 neon eyeshadow palettes, especially given the fact that I probably won’t be wearing a neon eye look a year from now.
And I’ll say it right away, I think the orange palette is the PERFECT neon palette. If you’re only gonna get one, this is 100%, without a shadow of a doubt the one I would get. It has 3 pinks including a more purple one, one shade that’s technically orange but could also pass for a warm pink, 4 oranges including one that’s basically a yellow and a super sparkly lime green.
I tell you, the amount of different looks you can create with this palette is just unreal. And listen, pink is my favourite colour. So obviously, at first, when I just saw the packaging, I was really drawn to the pink palette. And do I think the pink palette is gorgeous? Of course - SEE FOR YOURSELF. But if you pay attention, there are a lot of shades in there that are more on the purple side, or not even close to being neon.
Which is cool, and trust me, I was this close to ordering it, because I love pink so much, and it also had a lot of shades on the purple end, as well as duo-chrome glitter shades - And purple is my favourite to wear, and you guys should know by now that I’m a glitter freak, lol. But to me, the pink palette is not really a 100% neon palette, which is what I was looking for here.
And I mean… Neither is the green palette. The green palette is SO FAR from a neon green palette, it’s not even funny. Not only are there only 3 green shades in there, but out of those 3 shades, one isn’t even neon. And the 6 other shades…. Well, they couldn’t be farther from neon or green.
But to be totally honest, I AM SO F*CKING GLAD! I really don’t think I would have even considered buying the green palette if it was really green, because I don’t know how often I would want to wear a true neon green look. I’m gonna guess probably once or twice.
And as I just mentioned above, I’m a big fan of pink/purple tones and duo-chrome shadows. Well, if you like that too, look no more, because this palette is so f*cking sickening!! I has absolutely nothing to do with neon, but the pink shades are SO pretty!! I mean, I’ll insert some swatches below, so you’ll have to look at that, but seriously, it’s so much prettier in person.
SO, TO SUM IT UP:
You should get the pink palette if you love pinks and purples and you want to have a good balance of pink and purple, as well as bright shades and more subdued ones, and a good mix of mattes and shimmers. Basically, you should get it if you’re obsessed with pink.
You should get the orange palette if you’re super into the neon trend and you want a true neon palette that will allow you to create a bunch of different neon looks in a multitude of hues.
You should get the green palette if you don’t really give a sh*t about neons and just want to get your hands on a bunch of super cool, multi-chrome pale pinks and purples… With a touch of neon green. Or if you really wanted The New Nude palette but don’t want to pay $65, I feel like this has a lot of the same kind of shades in a smaller format.
And now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for… THE SWATCHES:
If I’m being super honest (which, I mean, you know I wouldn’t do anything else, lol) these were a little hard to swatch. But as I always say, a swatch doesn’t mean sh*t until you’ve tried it on the eyes.
These eyeshadows are suuuuper soft - like buttery soft, and they apply really well on the eye. They’re also quite pigmented, so you don’t have to rage to create a decent look. I find that they also blend out really well, and I don’t know if that’s the case for all Huda Beauty eyeshadows, because these 2 are my first Huda palettes, but so far, I’m really impressed.
I feel like foe eyeshadow palettes, a makeup look is really worth a thousand words, so let me know if you’d like to see some looks with these palettes, and I’d be more than happy to do that for you guys!
Which reminds me, if you want to see some of my makeup looks, you should come check out my Instagram, because I started posting some makeup looks on there! And as always, if you post a makeup look on Instagram using any Huda Beauty neon palette, don’t forget to tag me on it so I can see it and repost it on my stories!!
I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and I’m dying to know if you’re getting (or if you already got) one of these palettes - Or the pink one! Let me know which one is your favourite in the comment section below!!
Love you guys!
