If there’s one beauty review that’s long overdue on The Hungarian Brunette, it’s the Laneige Sleeping Lip Mask. I’m on my third jar of this baby, I use it morning, day, evening and night… And I’ve also already done a review of their latest spin off, the Lip Glowy Balm.

The Lip Sleeping Mask is a super popular product (in fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Laneige’s best seller) and there’s a reason for that!

When you apply at night before bed, you really wake up with the softest, most hydrated lips ever. I noticed that when I apply it at night, I really don’t feel the need to apply as much lip balm during the next day, which makes sense since your skin regenerates during the night. So I personally view this as a treatment rather than just a balm.

But that doesn’t mean I don’t use it during the day too. We just came back from a trip to Utah to visit Zion, Bryce and Grand Canyon, and when we came back on Sunday night, my lips were so dry and parched, even though I kept applying lip balm as often as I could. But there’s just something about the dry desert heat and the A/C from the car that’s the perfect recipe for a disaster when it comes to lips… And skin in general.

So on Monday, I kept applying the mask every few hours, and by the end of the day, they were back to my normal, hydrated soft and plump lips.

It’s available in 3 flavours: The original, that smells like berries, Vanilla and Apple Lime. I’ve only ever purchased the original, but I’ve heard a lot of people say their favourite is the Vanilla scent. If I had to compare, I would say the original is very close to the smell of the Berry Lip Glowy Balm, so if you want a bit of variety, you could always get a different flavour in either the mask or the balm.

While we’re comparing the Lip Sleeping Mask and the Lip Glowy balm, I feel like I need to highlight one small detail: The balm is $15 for 10g and the mask is $20 for 20g. I will say that I like having both, because I feel like applying the mask when you’re out isn’t exactly ideal. The applicator is fantastic but it’s not something I take the time to use when I’m on the go, and I don’t like dipping my dirty fingers in the jar when I’m outside. The mask is also lighter and not really meant to be used as a balm/gloss, so it leaves a tiny bit of a white overcast on the lips. That’s not a problem if you use very little or if you have a light skin tone, but if you like a thick coat or have a darker skin tone, it might not look as good as the balm, which really gives the lips a really subtle tint and a big amount of glossy shine.

So I feel like both are worth having for different reasons, and they work really well together to give you lips that are permanently hydrated and healthy.

Do you guys have and use either the lip mask or the glowy balm? Which one is your favourite? Let me know in the comment section below!

Love you guys!
