MY FAVOURITE SPORTY SWEATSHIRTS OF THE SEASON
If you would have told me 5 years ago that one day, I’d be wearing a sweatshirt with PVC leggings in public (and not on Halloween), I would have called you psychotic and moved on without giving it a second thought. 5 years later… Here we are. And not only am I wearing a sporty sweater and plastic pants (the only item I’e actually been wanting for years), I’m also wearing them with giant sneakers. Please keep in mind that before last year, I had never owned a pair of sneakers aside from the ugly-ass ones I had to wear for Phys Ed in high-school.
But times have changed since The Devil Wears Prada came out, and I’m no longer a Fashion School student who’s only interested in 4” heels and studded leather jackets - although I still love rocking both from time to time. Sportswear has become so mainstream in LA (and pretty much everywhere else) that it’s impossible to go to brunch on Melrose without seeing a woman that could easily afford to dress in Tom Ford from head to toe wearing an $89 outfit that’s limited to leggings and a sports bra.
Even Anna Wintour, the queen of chic, has to deal with this trend and she even said in an interview that women used to come in to work at Vogue in their running shoes (because that’s way more practical in the subway) and change into their painful heels as soon as they entered the office. Whereas now, it’s perfectly acceptable to wear a feminine floral dress with oversized, 90’s dad inspired sneakers.
I’ve said this before, but I’ve been having knee problems since I was barely an adult, and I feel like the sneaker trend is a huge relief for me, because there’s finally a shoe that’s trendy that won’t contribute to putting me in a wheelchair by the time I’m 30. My Fila Disruptors are seriously one of my favourite pairs of shoes at the moment, and I’m always looking for new colour variations to get them in.
Last week, I paired them with my super shiny, wet looking leggings and this super understated, sporty sweater from H&M (the first one linked below). The outfit looked a little edgy, but also super comfortable and casual - which it was!
Since I’m really into the sportswear trend lately, I linked 20 cool sporty sweatshirts below for you guys to check out. Which one is your favourite? Let me know in the comments section below!
Love you guys,
