16 FLORAL CROP TOPS THAT ARE SO IN THIS SEASON (+ How to make them a little edgier)
One of my favourite things ever is buying a piece of clothing and then realizing it’s still on trend a year later… Or when I hold on to an item that’s out of style for years, and then it comes back into fashion again. I can’t be the only one, right?!
This happened to me for the first time this year when I was browsing Forever 21’s website, and saw this exact top… That I bought last year. Turns out it’s still available a year later (and it also comes in plain white, I linked both options below) and I’m THRILLED.
I wore this top so many times last year, so I’m super happy that I get to share it with you guys this year. I love that it’s super feminine, with the subtle floral pattern and the crochet accents, without being too much.
Can we also talk about the self-tie shoulder straps, please? Because it’s only my FAVE detail ever in clothes. Seriously though, if (read: when) I have my own clothing line one day, brace yourself for a lot of self-tie straps everywhere. I feel like they’re such an interesting detail, and I also find it to be super sexy, in a non obnoxious way. To me, self-tie shoulder straps seem to be saying “I may come undone”, LOL. I feel like that sounds a little crazy, but you know what they say: Imagination is a big part of sex-appeal.
But I digress. All that to say, I was obsessed with this top last year, and I’m very happy that it’s still super on point for this Summer, because I was going to wear it anyways… And now you guys can, too!
Since it’s not overly cutesy either, I love matching this top with some edgier pieces, like my Sam Edelman studded boots, my new black denim cutoffs from Zara and my favourite black felt hat. If the weather was colder and I wanted to make it look even edgier, I would add a leather jacket to that, and possible replace the shorts with black (or dark grey) destroyed jeans.
I wore this outfit to go grab some coffee in Santa Monica with my friend Kris, and it was the perfect casual, comfy outfit with just a hint of warm weather.
Personally, I would also wear this top with mom jeans in a light wash, with sneakers and a jacket in colder weather… Maybe I should include this top in a “wear it 2 ways” post? I haven’t done one of those in a while. You guys let me know if it’s something you want to see in the comment section below!
I’ll leave you on that note, with 16 gorgeous floral crop tops (including this one and its plain white fraternal twin) that will be super in this season (mark my words, but also they’re already EVERYWHERE) and some more pictures from this shoot right after.
Love you guys,
