OOTD: THE WHITE RIBBED MIDI DRESS - DOUBLE SLIT GOODNESS

You guys, today’s outfit post is BIG for me. I honestly never thought I’d be wearing, let alone posting about a midi dress… Yet, here we are. I don’t know what happened, but somewhere between my mini skirts and skinny jeans (I’m so predictable)… I got bored. I know I’ve said it a million times (once again, so predictable), but I’ll say it again: To me, fashion is all about having fun.

And in 2019, my main fashion goal is to switch things up a little. I want to try new things I’m not necessarily used to, either because I convinced myself I didn’t like these trends (like polka dots and midi skirts, for example) or because I thought I just couldn’t pull them off (like big earrings and dresses that require me to go braless…Yikes!).

I feel like always wearing the same thing gets boring, and for someone who loves fashion as much as I do, it’s really fun to push myself out of my comfort zone, if only to prove to myself that I can do it. That’s why I never say never, even to things that I may find totally repulsive now. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll be wearing a kitten heel.

So in the spirit of not being an uptight, shortsighted bitch, I decided I would open my heart (and closet) to new things this year, and try to rock some trends that maybe go against my better judgment. Midi length bottoms is kind of high on that list, because one of the things I really like to do when I pick clothes is highlight the few things I actually like about my body, and try to flatter the things that I don’t like as much as possible.

Since one of the things I love about my figure is my long legs, I try to stick to mini skirts, because I really feel like they make my legs look even longer, and I just feel feminine and sexy in a mini. But lately, I’ve been thinking more and more about the idea of what sexiness is, and it’s not only about showing as much skin as possible… So when I saw this dress at Forever 21, I really wanted to try it on, for some reason.

And to my surprise, I really loved it. First of all, it has a lot of the details that I usually look for in clothing: A deep neckline that accentuates the little bit of boobs I was gifted with (lol), a belt that showcases my defined waist, and it’s white, which I love in the summer. Also, it’s classic and timeless, which means I’ll be able to wear it for more than 3 weeks.

And while the midi length makes it somewhat more conservative, I feel like the neckline, the double slits and the fact that it’s skintight still make this a pretty sexy piece, without showing too much skin. I’m also a huge fan of how it elongates the body, since it’s all one colour and is made out of a ribbed material. I paired it with nude heels here, to accentuate that effect even more.

What do you guys think about this dress? Do you love the midi length, and most importantly, do you feel like you can pull it off? In case you love it, I linked 10 options right below, the exact dress I’m wearing being the first one.

Oh, and if you’re into the dainty necklace I’m wearing, it’s from Forever 21 and less than $5!!! I feel like that’s a crazy deal, and it looks amazing in person. You can get it RIGHT HERE… And don’t forget to check out their other options, because F21’s jewelry selection this season is just THEBOMB.COM!

Love you guys,

Jenny xx
