A few weeks ago, I visited my mom in Montreal. As I was sitting on her couch, browsing the internet, I saw a bodysuit I liked with tie shoulder straps. So I showed it to her, and to my surprised, she exclaimed Oh, I could make that easily! And then she added quickly that she had some leftover swimsuit fabric she could use for it. I believe her exact words were: I don't have a lot left, but I won't need much to make you a top... LOL.

So without any wait, we got the fabric, discussed what I wanted, and she started sewing. We decided on a crop top (you don't say!) because that's practically all I wear... And also because we were tight on material. It turned out pretty damn well, and needless to say, it fits me like a glove. That's the best part about made-to-measure.

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE that it's made from swimsuit material. I thought it was gonna be annoying AF, but it's actually the best thing ever. It's super comfy and I can wear it to the beach, because it dries super quickly.

Aside from the fit and fabric, my favourite part is obviously the tie shoulder straps. I feel like it makes this otherwise really ordinary top a little special... Like the detail that makes it interesting.

On a side note, I feel like I have to mention that my mom didn't train to make clothes... She's fully self-taught and she tailors my clothes every time I visit her, since most of my clothes are too big for me when I get them. That also means I'm incredibly lazy, since I studied fashion design and could very well do it myself. But I don't have a sewing machine here in LA, although it's in the plans to get one!

And it's also fun for me to wear something my mom made for me. Since I don't get to see her a lot since I moved, it reminds me of her. Call me a big baby, but I do miss my mom sometimes!

Just in case making your own clothes isn't an option, I linked a TON of options for similar tops below (scroll scroll) + more pics from this shoot. I really love the tie shoulder straps and I feel like I'd love a dress or a swimsuit that has them...

To be continued!

I hope you guys have an amazing weekend.

Love, Jenny xx
