Happy Beauty Wednesday! This week, I'm reviewing a product I wasn't too fond of at first, but came to absolutely LOVE! The Peter Thomas Roth Max Complexion Correction Pads. This just goes to show how everyone (or every product) deserves a second chance!

I first bought these pads to help with acne, at a time when I didn't really have my skincare routine all figured out. I started using them sporadically, and they didn't really do anything extraordinary to my skin. But here's the thing: These pads aren't fair weather friends. I personally find that to really get results, it's best to use them every single day.

I use them in combination with other products, and I think it's a bit too optimistic to assume that these pads alone with get rid of acne and give you perfect skin. BUT, in combination with a good routine, it's really made a few great changes to my skin. Here's what the Peter Thomas Roth Max Complexion Correction Pads do:

They Help With Acne

One of the ingredients of the pads is salicylic acid. If you have acne, you've for sure heard of salicylic acid, because it's one of the most popular ingredients to treat acne. As I mentioned above, I personally don't think these pads alone can totally get rid of acne, but they're definitely a staple in a good anti-acne routine.

I use them instead of toner now, and I feel like it definitely helps making pimples disappear faster, and preventing future ones. It also really cleans the pores, so they look much less apparent and are less likely to cause pimples.

They Make Skin Look Much Smoother, Brighter & Tighter

Another great ingredient in these pads is glycolic acid. Glycolic acid is used in peels, and that's why these pads are "peel pads". What that does is get rid of the superficial layer of dead skin, to reveal fresher, brighter, younger looking skin.

Since using the Peter Thomas Roth Max Complexion Correction Pads daily, I've noticed a clear difference in the overall appearance of my skin. My face looks tighter, brighter and smoother, and my pores are less apparent, too. For someone with large pores and textured skin, this is a MAJOR improvement!

They Help With Oily Skin

The last significant change it brought to my skin is make it a lot less oily. I haven't found this benefit listed anywhere in the product description, but I can definitely vouch for it! I've always had oily skin, but it's gotten A LOT better since I started using my peel pads on the reg.

Not only does my skin not look shiny anymore, but my makeup lasts a lot longer too. And that's an undeniable benefit! That being said, unlike some other very drying products, these pads got rid of the excess oil, but WITHOUT drying my skin. A flaky face is one of my worst nightmare, and it's nowhere in sight here. These pads give just the perfect level of dewiness.

If you've been following The Hungarian Brunette for a while, you guys know I love Peter Thomas Roth. I use the Hungarian Thermal Water Mask every week and it's a wonderful product. (You can read my full review here.)

And you also know that when it comes to beauty, I'm all about results, but also experience. Which brings me to the smell of these pads. They smell like a delicious peach bellini. That's a great thing, because peel pads usually smell so chemical and harsh. Not these ones though! The only thing you should expect is a tingly feeling. Like, very tingly. It doesn't hurt, but it definitely feels like your skin is being thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. The feeling lasts about 5 seconds, and then it's back to normal, with no redness or flakiness.

I'll also have a full post on my complete anti-acne skincare routine soon, so make sure to check that out, or to follow on Instagram not to miss it!
