OOTD: FIRETRUCK RED SKIRT & WHITE CROP TOP
Happy Friday guys!! This week I decided to do something a little different, AKA an outfit post. I feel like as a blogger, I always try to bring you guys value and talk about important topics... BUT personal style is important too, and sometimes a girl needs to know where to get cute clothes, amirite? Hence, outfit posts. I'll sprinkle them on here and there, because I think they're fun and actually helpful. I, myself, like outfit posts because they really inspire me and help me elevate my personal style.
This week, I wanted to share this outfit with you because it's super fun, flirty and perfect for summer. Summer in LA can be brutal, especially inland (ironically) and sometimes, just the thought of wearing anything but a bikini can be daunting. This outfit is perfect for scorching weather for 2 reasons:
First, I love a good crop top in the summer. It's one of the only styles that doesn't feel suffocating, like a burning cocoon on your skin. It's also super cute and quite flirty. That specific crop top is quite shorter than anything I'm used to, but I actually ended up loving it. When I received it, I asked you guys on Instagram wether I should keep it or not, and almost all of you voted for yes, so, obviously I decided to just rock it.
I feel like in that particular situation, it works because the skirt is high-waisted. I mean, to each their own, but I feel like especially for daytime, if you're gonna wear a crop top AND a low-waisted skirt, you're inevitably gonna channel Paris Hilton circa 2001. Since my top was pretty short, I also paired it with a slightly longer skirt. (This crop top RIGHT HERE)
Second, allow me to praise a good skirt for a few minutes. I know, I know, denim shorts are comfortable and simple. But nothing beats a short skirt when it's super hot outside. I don't know how to put this in a classy way, so I'll just say it: It lets everything breathe. There you have it. I feel like tight clothes are just so restrictive when the mercury rises above 80°F. That skirt is slightly A-line, so it's great for hot days. And for those who dread chafing, I've heard that applying deodorant on the inside of your thighs really helps with that. You're welcome. I haven't tried it, but I've only heard good things. So please feel free to try and report back. (This skirt RIGHT HERE - Also available in black)
I just feel like there's something about this outfit that screams summer vibes, and I love that it's easy to transition from day to night. It's definitely on the sexier side, but if you can't even show your hard ab workouts by wearing a crop top here and there, what's the point, right?
These specific sandals are from Stuart Weitzman, but they're from a few years back, so I linked 2 similar styles below!
Since I've been sick and stuck in bed for the last 2 days, I feel like as soon as I'm feeling 100% again, I'm gonna be more than happy to wear my favourite crop top and go out again - ha!
I would love to know what you guys think of this outfit. Love it? Hate it? You can always leave me a comment below or hit me up on Instagram, I love chatting with you guys!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, wearing a crop top, obviously! (What else!?)
Love, Jenny xx
