Ok guys, so it's Beauty Wednesday again... And to be totally honest, I was gonna review something else this week. But as I was planning this post, there was just nothing else I wanted to write about just as much. So today, you're getting the lowdown on the Sunday Riley Space Race Acne Fighting Kit.

I heard about the U.F.O. face oil included in this kit years ago. I was reading Vogue casually and there was a whole article that was praising this oil, saying it was magically good. The author said it cured her acne in a few days, like magic. And I remembered for all these years, but I never took the plunge.

As a young adult living on my own since I was 18, I had other expenses that just kept me from spending a lot on beauty treatments. And my acne was mild, nothing to be too bothered about... Then about two years ago, I was going through a super stressful time and I started getting stress acne. I was 24 and had more pimples than when I was a teenager. I was freaking out. Also, I was newly single, so not exactly the best timing.

So I tried more affordable products, as it was also a really tough time, financially. Once again, I just couldn't justify spending a fortune on skincare... With time and A LOT of efforts, my skin calmed down a little and I kept using the same products that had worked for me...

Until now. I've been experiencing a few stressful event in the past few weeks, which means I had to say hello again to stress acne. Except this time around, I actually work with my face. Which makes it a lot more problematic. I mean, no matter what you do, acne greatly affects one's appearance and self-confidence... But when your face is your breadwinner, it's a little different. It's just totally unacceptable.

So I decided that I was gonna bite the bullet and I ordered the Sunday Riley Space Race kit from Sephora. To sum it up in one sentence: I am never going back!

The first time I tried it, I was actually totally disgusted. To be fully upfront: IT SMELLS LIKE SHIT. Seriously though, it's the worst-smelling beauty product I've ever used. And you know what I think about unpleasant user experiences when it comes to beauty products: Not a fan! I'm obviously into results, but I love the pampering experience that goes with it. But there it was, all paid for, and was SO fed up with my acne, I think I would have smeared dog shit all over my face if it worked! So I decided to suck it up and at least try it for a few days... Boy, am I glad I did.

I don't know what else to say except that this shit is MAGICAL. Really. I'm sure there's science to it, but it feels like pure magic. The first 2-3 days, I used it once in the morning and once at night and it almost completely got rid of my pimples. All of them. Then, I reduced the use to once a day (in the evening) because my skin became quite dry, and I added my nightly moisturizer back into my routine. (The first 2-3 days I used nothing else, to do a full "detox" and be sure no other products were messing with it.)

Here's a breakdown of what's in the kit and the deets on how I use it:

1- Martian Mattifying Toner

This is the product that has the worst smell, and it's also very strong. It's a toner, so you're supposed to use it right after washing your face. This set contains no facial cleanser, so I have a few that I use on rotation. Right now I mostly use ExfoliKate by Kate Sommerville, the Peter Thomas Roth Acne clearing wash, or the OleHenriksen Oil Control cleanser. Then, I pat my face dry with a clean towel (I have one I use exclusively for my face) and I apply a bit of this toner all over my face. A little goes a long way with this one, I don't even use a full pump. Then, I let it sink in while I towel-dry my hair and brush my teeth, before going to step 2.

2- U.F.O. Face Oil

This oil also has a quite unpleasant smell, like a cheese soup that's been left in a garbage can under in the blistering desert heat for a few weeks... But at least the smell is a little more subtle than the toner. After almost two weeks of daily use, I'm almost so used to it that I don't even smell it anymore. The fact that I absolutely LOVE everything about this oil but the smell also helps. I apply one drop on my forehead and one drop on each cheek, before rubbing it in all over my face. Surprisingly, unless you use a shitton, it does't make your face look oily and it absorbs really quickly, too.

3- Saturn Sulfur Face Mask

This mask is surprisingly the one that has the most pleasant odour, which is weird considering that the main ingredient is sulfur. Really makes you wonder what the hell smells so bad in the other 2 products. I use this one sporadically, when I have an unexpected breakout. I also don't use it all over my face, but rather just concentrated on the actual spots where I need it. I'm a very vocal face mask addict, so I like to keep them on rotation. But when I have a stubborn pimple, I don't wait anymore, I just cover it with this mask, wait a few minutes and go on with my day, knowing that it'll take care of it for me.

I've been using the Sunday Riley Space Race kit for almost two weeks now, and I'm SO happy to report that my skin is almost 100% clear. It's the first time that something has worked so efficiently and quickly for acne, and as I said earlier, I'm never going back.

I had an afternoon shoot last week, and I had a spot I needed to get rid of ASAP. So I applied the mask in the morning, followed by the toner and the oil. By 3pm, my breakout had almost totally disappeared, you couldn't even tell it was there.

I highly recommend this kit to anyone dealing with acne, no matter your skin type. Because the beauty of it is there's a way to make it work for anyone. Instructions explain how to use it if your skin tends to purge, if you have dry skin, etc. It's a total no-brainer. It's worth every penny AND the bad smell. This post is absolutely not sponsored, although if Sunday Riley wants to sponsor me, I'll for sure say yes, because I'm fucking hooked.

Who has tried the Sunday Riley Space Race kit or any of the products included? Did you love it (duh!)? Let me know in the comments below or hit me up on Instagram and give me all the good deets.

Love you guys, Jenny xx
