THE PRETTIEST PEARL ACCESSORIES ALL UNDER $15 (IT GOES WAY BEYOND BARRETTES!)
OK you guys, this post has been a loooong time coming! Pearls are having a moment, and they’ve been having a moment for months. It started with the barrettes, and then all of a sudden, they were everywhere. It would be foolish to think that pearls just came out of nowhere this year, because truth it, they’ve been in style for such a long time, coming back every few years.
As a child, one of the first Christmas presents I remember gifting my mom was a set of black pearl necklace, bracelet and earrings, which was probably my first tangible memory of pearl jewelry. And after that, it was the breathtaking Tiffany & Co. multi-strand pearl necklace Audrey Hepburn wore for her role in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. In college, I was (and still am) a huge fan of Hepburn and I used to have a poster of her from that iconic movie in my first apartment’s bedroom, right over my bed.
But although I have some very good memories associated to pearls, I was never really a fan for myself, because I was always under the impression that they were either dated or for older women. I was always on Samantha Jones’ (from SATC) when she said that the only type of pearl necklace she would wear is “when a man decorates your neck”, LOL.
But lately, pearls have been really having a glow-up, and I surprised myself falling in love with a lot of pearl accessories. There’s just so much to choose from now from headbands, jewelry, bag straps and of course barrettes - And none of them look dated or old. They actually make any outfit look a little more polished and give it a slightly retro, romantic vibe… Which I’m totally into!
So obviously, I thought it would be fun to do a roundup for you guys and show you all my current favourite pearl accessories.
Side note, my top is also linked at the end of the post (with 5 similar options), so if that’s what you came here for, just keep scrolling ;)
The Pearl Headband: This pearl headband is so beautiful, I bought it 3 seconds after seeing it. I felt like it kind of gave off an old-century Russia or Oktoberfest vibe, and when I got it and saw it in person, I just fell in love.
It has 2 little combs on the side, so it really stays in place once you put it on, and it’s actually quite comfortable to wear.
I was never a big headband fan, but after this one, I feel like I want to look more into it!!
The Double Chain & Pearl Cross & Coin Necklace: I’ve been seeing necklaces like this all over Pinterest for years, and I always thought they looked so beautiful and ethereal. But I also always thought it would be super expensive to get one… Until I saw it on Amazon. Since it was so affordable, I thought it would probably not look like on the picture, but it actually looks pretty good IRL.
Sure, it’s a bit of a bigger statement piece than the super dainty necklaces I’m used to wearing, but I’ve really been into chunkier chain necklaces with pendants lately, so this is the perfect timing! I also love that it’s actually 2 separate necklace sold together, so you can wear them together or separately, and layer one of them with some daintier pieces as well if you’re into that look just like I am.
Both of the necklaces are also adjustable, so you can wear them as chokers, or a little looser on the neck, just like I did.
The Coins and Pearls Choker Necklace: Yes, this is another necklace, but I feel like I’m having a “they’re so different” moment from The Devil Wears Prada when I look at them. I mean sure, they’re all god with a chunky chain, at least one coin and some pearls…
But this one is a little different in the sense that while the first necklace reminds me of a “nun gone wild” vibe (it has to be the cross, lol) this one looks more like something that’s been made by a mermaid with some old coins that she found on the bottom of the ocean and then added a few pearls because, well… She lives in the ocean and pearls are just so casual down there.
Am I taking this too far? Maybe. Probably, actually. But safe to say, these necklaces give me a different vibe, and that’s why they’re both included in this list. This one is also adjustable and it’s super lightweight, which I find surprising for such a statement piece.
The Big Pearls Bag Strap: I was super excited about this as soon as I saw it on my friend’s shop’s website, because I’m all about accessories that completely change the look of something else, and this exquisite pearl strap will turn any bag into a classy lady’s dreamboat.
It comes in 2 sizes (this is the large one) and it’s the perfect length to either add it to a small bag as an accent (like I did) or to a clutch to use it as a strap.
The pearls are obviously gorgeous, but one detail that I love is how the clasp is just a sleek metal circle, there are no ugly lobster clasps here.
The Pearl Barrettes: It would have been weird to do a post on pearl accessories without including some barrettes, because let’s face it, that’s what started this whole pearl trend this year.
I’m usually not too big on hair accessories because I just like my hair loose and flowy (I run my hands through my hair at least 1000 times a day - no joke!) but these are so adorable that I couldn’t resist. And they also don’t require a big fancy updo to look good. You can just casually slip one or two (or all of them if you like it extra) and you’re out the door!
I just bought a giant set off of Amazon for almost nothing that includes different styles and types. Actually, it’s not that giant, it’s 8 pieces (lol) but I love that it includes the 2 most popular types of barrettes, so there’s really something for every taste… Plus the whole set is the same price as only ONE barrette at some stores, so it’s really a no-brainer.
I usually like to wear them on the left side of my head, because that’s where my hair naturally parts, but these are so versatile, you can literally wear them tons of different ways.
That’s all I have today for pearl accessories, guys! I hope you enjoyed these and felt inspired to try out some pearl accessories, wether it’s a simple pearl barrette or a combination of many of these (like I did) for a more total look!
